Research and experience show that selling to customers is less costly and more effective than selling to strangers. While Microsoft Dynamics CRM provides data and insights to help you understand what customers might buy next, it doesn’t provide an easy way to create cross-sell or upsell campaigns. Today creating upsell or cross-selling campaigns means using JavaScript to write the rules that drive the campaigns, but this results in slow turnaround times for changes, delayed projects and cost overruns.

Stephen Colbert coined the term Truthiness in 2005. Wikipedia summarizes Truthiness as “a quality characterizing a ‘truth’ that a person claims to know intuitively ‘from the gut’ or because it ‘feels right’ without regard to evidence, logic, intellectual examination, or facts.”

The upholding of the Affordable Care Act renews the urgency of the Health Insurance Exchange programs, which all states are required to have operational by January 2014.

Business Rule Technology such as InRule will be an essential component of any Health Insurance Exchange seeking to meet this deadline. Driving Health Insurance Exchange programs are many complex and frequently changing rules that determine a citizen’s eligibility based on many factors such as age, employment status, family status, income, and assets.

Rules also drive details of health plans such as which procedures are covered, co-pays, deductibles, and approved medications. By managing these rules outside of code, InRule brings improved quality and increased efficiency—key as states race to meet the January 2014 deadline.
